The IB Primary Years Programme is an inquiry-based curriculum framework that nurtures and develops students to be caring, active learners, and focuses on conceptual understanding, critical thinking and problem solving.
The PYP curriculum empowers students as agents of their own learning. It prioritises people and their relationships to build a strong learning community.
Central to all IB Programmes is the IB Learner Profile. Made up of ten attributes that support all members of the school community to work towards and demonstrate as lifelong learners. At DIA, students and staff demonstrating these attributes are celebrated and recognized throughout the academic year.
The IB Programmes foster critical thinking, problem solving, and encouraging students to play positive roles in their communities and society as global citizens. All learning is based on real-world situations that allows students to understand the relevance of what they are learning. Students are taught to think conceptually, exposing them to familiar and unfamiliar situations, and how to apply their knowledge to different situations.
The PYP Exhibition is the culminating, collaborative experience in the last year of the programme. Students are given the opportunity to learn, research, and understand more about a real-life issue or topic that they are passionate about. Students are assigned a teacher mentor who supports and guides them on developing skills in academic integrity, approaches to learning, and presentation. Upon completion, students exhibit their projects to peers, parents/guardians and the community at large.
Through the PYP, DIA offers authentic learning experiences that are linked to real-world experiences/challenges. Students are given the opportunity to problem solve and critically think, as well as take meaningful action in our community as well as in a more global context.

Words from the DIA Family
“DIA brought out my confidence and provided me with opportunities to speak publicly in front of crowds of all counts. Today, in addition to many skills developed within the walls of DIA, public speaking is definitely one of them.”

“DIA opened doors for me that I never thought possible. It helped me grow and kept me fully equipped to handle most of what a university and a foreign country have to offer. I am very grateful to DIA and the IB.”
